Fundamentals of Controlled Positioning Using Rapid/Creep Feed
Positioning Operation
From the start position, the target is approached at high speed (rapid feed). At a preset
distance from the target (switchover point), there is a change to a lower speed (creep feed).
Shortly before the axis reaches the target, again at a preset distance from the target, the
drive is switched off (switch-off point).
The drive is controlled via digital outputs for rapid feed or creep feed and the appropriate
direction.
To facilitate understanding, the change in speed is illustrated over the path traversed.
