Activating the HughesNet service
The box near the middle of this screen displays the router's SAN, Terminal IP Address, and
Terminal Subnet Mask. The customer should write down this information or use the Print
button to print this screen for reference. If the customer is going to use a public IP address
(also known as a routable address), this screen shows the address to use to configure the
customer's computer or other IP devices connected to the satellite router.
5. Click Continue.
The Welcome screen is displayed again with the following message added, as shown in

Thank you for choosing HughesNet. Your service has been activated. The arrow in
the following screen illustration points to this message.

The customer can now use the satellite router to browse the Internet.
After activation, if you (the installer) want to use the installer laptop to access the satellite router's
System Control Center, enable DHCP on the installer laptop and type
www.systemcontrolcenter.com or 192.168.0.1 on the browser, then press Enter. To use
192.168.0.1, the satellite router must be using a service plan with private IP addressing, and
DHCP must be enabled on the computer.
At this point installation and activation of the satellite router are complete—unless the customer
has ordered the VADB option. If the customer has ordered VADB, see
58. The remaining information in this manual (following the VADB chapter) is provided for
reference or troubleshooting purposes. You may or may not need it.
Once the satellite router is installed and activated, the customer may connect a router in the path
using the IP information shown in the
After activation, Internet browsing could be interrupted by a download of newer software that
causes the router to reboot. If this happens it does not indicate a problem. Service should be
restored after a short time.
