Testing the phone line

Connecting the satellite router to the telephone line

The analog loopback test sends data through the router's chipset and back to the serial bus.
4. Click Run Loopback Test.
The message Executed OK indicates a successful test. If the test should fail, wait a few
minutes (the router could be busy) and try again. If it fails again, contact Installer Support.
Use a telephone handset to test the VADB phone line.
1. Connect a phone handset to the phone line that will be used for the VADB link.
2. Dial a known phone number to make sure the phone line is active.
To support VADB, connect the HN9500 to a telephone line jack as follows:
1. Connect one end of an RJ-11 telephone cable to the telephone line port on the back of the
HN9500 satellite router.
Note: The telephone line port is indicated by a telephone icon:
2. Connect the other end of the cable to the phone line jack or a splitter (if the HN9500 needs
to share the phone line with other devices).
