VADB – Router cannot connect
VADB – VADB Connection State down
Typically the delay time (time message is sent until it is received) is approximately 1 second.
The screen shows the minimum, average, and maximum delay times for the test messages
in milliseconds. Most important is whether all messages are received or not.
For additional information, see How to interpret these results on the test results page.
If the satellite router cannot connect using VADB, follow these steps to correct the problem.
Note: To successfully complete this troubleshooting procedure, the HN9500 must be
commissioned and activated.
1. Verify that the telephone cable is securely attached to the telephone line port on the HN9500
and the telephone jack (or splitter, if used).

4. If the VADB feature is still not functioning properly after completing the previous steps,
contact Installer Support.
If the VADB Connection State and Dial Up Line State fields change to Down and you cannot
access the Internet, this is an indication that the satellite connection has been lost. Troubleshoot
the problem by verifying that the HN9500 can ping the VADB gateway:
1. Use a telephone handset to test the phone line to be used for VADB. For details, refer to
Testing the phone line
on page 60.
2. From the Windows desktop, click Start → Run.
3. In the Run dialog box, type Command and click OK.
4. Type ping {VADB Server IP address} and press Enter.
The VADB server IP address appears on the VADB Client Status Result page.
If the client fails to ping the host, the computer reports no packets received. This indicates
a problem with either the network hardware or the configuration. If the ping test fails:
a) Check the LAN connections.
b) Refer to the instructions provided with the network hardware for possible corrective
actions.
c) Retry the ping test.
