Configuring Dynamic Automatic Fabric

Quick Steps for Configuring Auto-Fabric

The following steps provide a quick tutorial on a basic auto-fabric configuration. This scenario applies to
the default operation of a switch without a configuration file as well configuring an existing switch. Addi-
tional information on how to configure auto-fabric is provided in the section
on page
14-14.
Auto-Fabric will run on a standalone switch when it has completed its boot up process and no configu-
ration files exists.
Auto-Fabric must be manually configured on a Virtual Chassis.
Default standalone switch operation with no configuration file
1
After the switch has completed its boot process it will begin the auto discovery process.
2
The switch will attempt LACP discovery and auto configuration for the default discovery window:
3
After the LACP discovery window expires, the switch will perform SPB auto discovery.
4
After the SPB discovery, the switch will perform MVRP auto discovery.
Once a switch has booted the default settings for auto-fabric features can be configured.

discovery process while others are enabled.

ified intervals.
