If you want to removethe expansionboard,unscrewthe sIot'scover
plate.Grasptheplastictabswithtwohandsandpullevenlyonthemuntil
theboardcomesunplugged.Do notwiggletheboardbackandforthas
youpull, to avoiddamagingthe pins (Fig.

POWER SUPPLY
Allconnections forthe StarLaserPrinter8 arelocatedon therearpanel
(Fig.2-38). Theseincludea receptaclefor the powercord,as wellas
paraIleIand serialconnectors.
The Star Laser'sthree-pinpower cord comespacked on the top tray,
alongwiththepapercassette.Attachthiscordtothereceptacleattheleft
sideof therear panel(Fig.2-39),aligningthe cordpins with the holes
beforeinserting.
Make sure that the printer is turnedo~.
Then plug
the now-attachedcord into a three-holewall socket,or into a surge-
protectedpowerstrip.
The printer'son-offpowerswitchis locatedjust abovethe powercord
receptacle.Thepowerswitchis markedwithto international s ymbols:
1 foron and O for off (Fig.2-40). To turntheprinteron,presstheend
of the switchmarkedwithI. To turnit off,pressO.
Be sure the switch is at the off position before plugging in the power
cord.
