OPTIONAL RAM EXPANSION BOARD

RAM,andpermitsfullpagebit-mapmodeoperation(Fig.2-30). To
tellwhethersuchaboardis alreadyinstalledin yourprinter,watchthe
screenduringpoweringup. If thereis no board,thedisplaywillread
Memory Test 1 MB
If the boardis alreadyinstalled,the screenwill say
Memory Test 2 MB
Theboardiseasilyinstakxlina slotlocatedattheleftrearof theprinter
frame(Fig.2-31). The onlytoolrequiredis a Phillipsscrewdriver.
Beforebeginningthe installation, t urn of~the
printer and unplug it.
The
plate covering the slot is secured by one screw (Fig.2-32).
Removethescrewandliftthecoverplateout.Noticethelipontheleft
side of the coverplate. The interiorof the slot containsa pin hole
receptacle(Fig.2-33).
TheRAMexpansionboardhas two plasticinsertiontabsat one end,
witha pinconnectorunderneath.Holdthecardby thetwotabssothat
thememorychipsfaceupward(Fig.2-34).Inserttheoppositeendinto
theslot,pressingfirmlywithyourthumbsagainsttheplastictabs,until
thepins are completelyseatedin thepin holereceptacle(Fig.2-35).
Duringinsertion,do notwiggletheboardbackand forth,as this may
damagethe pins.
