The new settingwillremainin theprinter's RAM memoryuntilit is
tumedofl. To understand why,youshouldrealizethattherearefour
differenttypesof settingsstoredin the printer'smemories.
TheFACTORYSETTINGS,whichare thoseput intothe printer's
unchangeable ROM memoryat the factory.
The POWER-UPSETTINGS,whichtheusercan create,thenstore
in a permanentmemorycalled NV RAM, even when the power is
turnedoff at rhe.endof the sessionin whichthey are created. These
settingscan thenoverridethe FactorySettings,beingactivatedwhen
the printeris turnedoff, thenon again.
TheINITIALSE'ITINGS, w hichtheusercancreateanduseas long
astheprinteris nottumedoff.Thesearestoredintemporaryorvolatile
RAM memory. They overridethePower-upSettings.
The CURRENTSETTINGS,which are those storedin temporary
RAM memory. These may be issued by softwarecommandsthat
overrideall othersettings.
Tomakethesettingpermanent, y oumustsaveitin NVRAM! Perform
thisprogrammingsequence,aftertakingtheprinterOff Line.
