PAPER JAMMING
As paper travelsfrom the cassettethroughthe printingarea and is
ejected,it canjam in oneof fourplaces:(1)asit leavesthecassette,(2)
withintheprintingarea,(3)nearthefixingassembly, a nd(4)wherethe
paperis ejected(Fig 10-1).

Whenthepaperdoesnot movefreelythroughany of theseplaces,the
printerscreenwilldisplaythe message
PAPERJAMMING
and theprinterwillgo Off Line. Firstopentheprinterand see where
thepaperisjammed. Ifthepaperis stuckas it comesfromthecassette
(Fig. 10-2),6pen the transferpaperguide. Then graspthepaperand
pull up on it. If this does not work, you shouldremovethe paper
cassette,thenrepeattheoperation,whichshouldnowbe successful.
If thepaperjams withintheprintingarea(Fig.10-3),openthetransfer
paperguide. Thengraspthepaperand pull upwardon it.
If the paperjam occursnear the fixingassembly,first lift the fixing
assemblycover(Fig. 10-4),yournextstepdependson howthepaper
is stuck. Eithergraspthe endof thepapernearthefrontof theprinter
andpullit towardyou(Fig. 10-5),or grasptheend neartherearof the
printerand pull thepaperstraightup (Fig. 10-6).
