Asyou lookat theleftfrontsideof the tonercartridge,youwillseea
smallplastictab witha circleon it (Fig.2-21). Pulldownon this tab
andwiggleit up anddowna few times,untilit snapsoff. Attachedto
thetabis along stripofplasticthatmustbecompletelyremoved.Hold
the tab and pull it straightout, applyingfirm, even pressure. Keep
pulling until the end of the long plastic strip emerges from the
cartridge.
Thefinalstepis to closetheprintertop,pushingdowngentlyuntilit
latches.
PAPER TYPES AND PAPER LOADING
YoumayIoadpaperintotheprinterautomatically or manually.Either
wayyouwillneedthecassette,whichisin theStyrofoamtraythatyou
setasideafterfirstopeningtheprinterpacking case.Thepapercassette
comesin two parts,thepapertrayand thecover.
The paper tray containstwo piecesof packingmaterial(Fig.2-22).
Removeand discardthem.
AutomaticPaperFeed:
For automaticpaper feed, paper must be placed within the paper
cassette.
Each size of paper requires a differentpaper cassette. The Star
LaserPrinter8 usescassettesfor fivepaper sizes:
