Maintenance

This section provides information and procedures for performing projector maintenance. Read
through this section in its entirety before performing maintenance activities. When performing
projector maintenance, obey all warnings and precautions.
Danger! Failure to comply with the following results in death or serious injury.
Never attempt to access the lamp compartment while the lamp is on. Wait at least 10 minutes after
the lamp turns off before powering down, disconnecting from AC and opening the lamp door.
The arc lamp operates at a high pressure that increases with temperature. Failure to allow the lamp to
sufficiently cool before handling, increases the potential for an explosion causing personal injury or
property damage.
Always wear manufacturer approved protective safety clothing (gloves, jacket, face shield) whenever
the lamp door is open or when handling the lamp.
Danger! Failure to comply with the following results in death or serious injury.
When accessing the restricted access location for projector service or maintenance, avoid exposure to
the projector beam path by making sure to either:
• Power off the projector and disconnect from AC.
• Shutter the lamp to avoid emissions from the front aperture.
Danger! Failure to comply with the following results in death or serious injury.
ELECTRICAL SHOCK HAZARD! Always turn off, disconnect, and disengage all power sources to the
projector before servicing.
Warning! Failure to comply with the following could result in death or serious injury.
• Qualified technician required for all installations.
• Never operate the projector without all of its covers in place.
Caution! Failure to comply with the following could result in minor or moderate injury.
Only Christie accredited service technicians are permitted to open any enclosure on the projector and
only if the AC power has been fully disconnected.

Maintenance shutdown

This process is mandatory. Always perform these steps before beginning any inspection or
maintenance procedures on the projector.
1. If the projector is operating, turn it off and allow it to cool for a minimum of 10 minutes.
2. Set the projector breaker switch to the off position.
