Hardware Installations and
Upgrades
Caution: No components in this server system are hot swappable. Before removing or installing any
component in this server system, you must first take the server out of service, turn off all
peripheral devices connected to the system, turn off the system by pressing the power
button, and unplug the AC power cord from the system or wall outlet.
Note: Some components in the Intel® Server System SR1530HCL / SR1530HCLS are hot
swappable and, where applicable, will be noted as such in the instructions.
Note: Most of the illustrations in this chaper show the Intel® Server System SR1530CL with an
optional optical drive installed. The instructions for removing and installing components
are the same for the Intel® Server System SR1530HCL / SR1530HCLS unless otherwise
noted. When instructions differ, separate illustrations will be shown for the Intel® Server
System SR1530HCL / SR1530HCLS.

Phillips* (cross head) screwdriver (#1 bit and #2 bit)

Needle nosed pliers
•
Antistatic wrist strap and conductive foam pad (recommended)

All references to left, right, front, top, and bottom assume the reader is facing the front of
the server system as it would be positioned for normal operation.

Removing and Installing the Front Bezel

The front bezel is available as an optional accessory for the Intel
SR1530CL / SR1530HCL / SR1530HCLS. Note the orientation in the following figures
and make sure you position your bezel as shown.
