PROBLEM SOLVING
Condition
Interface Module is not accepting the
copy sets from the host machine
reliably or the copy sets are jamming
as they enter the Interface Module.
Top sheets of copy sets are skewed,
damaged or left behind as they are
fed into the Binder 120.
Host machine is displaying a jam
message.
Host machine shuts down while
making copy sets.
Host machine shuts down and
Binder 120 displays a message to
empty the Output Tray.
Host machine and Binder 120 shut
down and Binder 120 displays a
message indicating that the Output
Tray is full.
When using the Binder 120 with a
Xerox 5800, 5890 or 5895, undesired
signals are sent to the Binder 120
during power-on of the host machine.
When using the Binder 120 with a
Xerox 5800, 5890 or 5895, undesired
signals are sent to the Binder 120
during recovery of the host machine
from Energy Saver.

Causes
The Binder 120 is not correctly
aligned with the host machine.
The Retainer or Spacer (whichever is
applicable) on the host machine
Output Tray is not connected.
For the Xerox 5680/5892, the Output
Tray may not be in the outermost
position.
Paper curl could be causing the top
sheets to catch on the feeder rolls
and/or the top sheets that are left
behind.
A jam has occurred in the host
machine due to a problem in the
Binder 120. This prevents further
sets from being delivered to the
Output Tray of the host machine.
The selected Cover Tray is out of
covers.
The Output Tray of the Binder 120 is
nearing capacity.
The Output Tray of the Binder 120 is
at capacity.
The host machine was not powered
on before powering on the Binder
120.
The Binder 120 was not powered off
during a long period of inactivity.
Suggested solutions
Check the Alignment Bracket to
ensure that it is in the correct
position and that the Binder 120 is
correctly aligned with the host
machine.
Connect the Retainer or Spacer as
directed in chapter 3, "Preparing the
Binder 120 for on-line and off-line
operation."
Ensure that the host machine Output
Tray is in the outermost position.
Flip or replace the paper in the paper
trays of the host machine.
Clear the host machine jam
messages as directed by the host
machine User Interface screen.
Load a cassette containing covers
into the Cover Tray.
Empty the Output Tray of the Binder
120.
Empty the Output Tray of the Binder
120.
Restart the host machine.
Always power on the host machine
before powering on the Binder 120.
When using the Energy Saver time-
out feature on the host machine,
power off the Binder 120 when it will
not be in use for a long period of
time.
