Installing an M120 CFPC

To install a CFPC (see Figure 80 on page 160):
Attach an electrostatic discharge (ESD) grounding strap to your bare wrist, and connect
1.
the strap to one of the ESD points on the chassis.
Place the CFPC on the antistatic mat.
2.
Take the CFPC to be installed out of its electrostatic bag and identify the slot on the
3.
CFPC in which it will be installed.
Verify that the transceiver has a rubber safety cap covering the PIC transceiver. If it
4.
does not, cover the transceiver with a safety cap.
Ensure that the CFPC is right-side up, with the text on the faceplate of the CFPC facing
5.
upward.
Lift the CFPC into place and carefully align first the bottom, then the top of the CFPC
6.
with the guides inside the card cage.
Slide the CFPC all the way into the card cage until you feel resistance.
7.
Pull the end of the ejector lever away from the CFPC faceplate, and hold the lever out
8.
while continuing to push on the CFPC faceplate to further install it into the chassis.
When the CFPC is about 0.5 in (1 cm) from being fully inserted, release the ejector
9.
level and gently push on the CFPC faceplate until you hear a click as the CFPC contacts
the midplane. The ejector lever engages and closes automatically.
Remove the rubber safety cap from the transceiver on the CFPC faceplate.
