Impedance respiration
Problem
Why is the monitor detecting cardiac artifact as
breaths?

Solution
Respiration detection is not dependent on the size of
the waveform. Size is for visual purposes only.
The breath detection threshold is too low (1 = breath,
2 = artifact). The following is an example of incorrect
detection, where the 1's are correctly detected
breaths, but the 2's are artifact incorrectly detected
as breaths, as can be seen by the inspiration and
expiration markers on the 2's.
Increase the detection sensitivity percentage until

the markers correctly identify each inspiration and
expiration. The following is an example of correct
detection, where the inspiration and expiration
markers only appear on the breaths and not the
artifact.
