Traveling Abroad
Abroad, there is a w idely-spread
M ercedes-Benz service netw ork at
your disposal. If you plan to travel
into areas w hich are not listed in
the index of your dealer directory,
you should request pertinent
inform ation from your authorized
M ercedes-Benz dealer.
W inter Driving
Have your car w interized at your
authorized M ercedes-B enz dealer
before the onset of w inter.
• C hange the engine oil if the
engine contains an oil w hich is
not approved for w inter opera­
tion. For viscosity (SAE class)
and filling quantity, see
C apacities: Fuels, Coolants,
L ubricants etc. in Index.
• C heck engine coolant
a ntico rro sio n /a n tifre e ze
concentration.
• A dditive for the w indshield
w asher and headlam p cleaning
system : Add M B C oncentrate
" S " to a prem ixed w indshield
w asher so lve n t/a n tifre e z e
w hich is form ulated for below
freezing tem peratures (see
Index).
• Test battery: Battery ca pacity
drops w ith decreasing am bient
tem perature. A well charged
battery ensures that the engine
can alw ays be started, even at
low am b ie n t tem peratures.
• Tires: W e recom m end M + S
rad ia l-p ly tires on all four
w heels for the w inter season.
O bserve perm issible m axim um
speed for M + S radial-ply tires
and the legal speed lim it.
Note:
In w inte r operation, the m axim um
effectiveness of the acceleration
slip control can only achieved with
M + S radial-ply tires reco m m en d ­
ed by M ercedes-B enz.
Snow Chains
Use o nly snow chains that are
tested and recom m ended by
M ercedes-B enz. Your authorized
M ercedes-B enz dealer w ill be glad
to advise you on this subject.
C hains should only be used on
the rear w heels. Follow the m anu­
fa c tu re r's m ounting instructions.
Snow chains should only be
driven on snow covered roads at
speeds not to exceed 30 mph
(50 k m /h ). R em ove chains as
soon as possible when driving on
roads w ithout snow.
