elim in ate injuries and fatalities.
The activation of the "S R S "
tem porarily releases a small
am ount of dust from th e air
bags. This dust, how ever, is
n eith er injurious to your health,
nor does it indicate a fire in the
vehicle.
The service life of the airbags
extends to the date indicated on
the label located on the driver-
side door latch post. To provide
continued reliability a fte r that
date, they should be inspected
by an authorized M erced es-
Benz d ealer at that tim e and
replaced w hen n ecessary.

For m axim um protection in
the event o f a collision alw ays
be in norm al seated position
with your back against the
seat back. Fasten your seat
belt and e n s u re that it is
properly positioned on the
body.
S ince th e airbag in flates with
con sid erab le speed and force,
a proper seating position will
keep you in a safe distance
from th e airbag:

Sit properly belted in an
upright position w ith your
back against th e seat back.
•
Do not lean w ith your head
or chest close to the s te er
ing w h eel or dashboard.
•
Adjust th e p assenger seat
as far as possible rearw ard
from th e dashboard.
•
Infants and sm all children
should only be seated in a
rear seat and be properly
secured in a child restraint
system .
•
R ear-facing child restraints
m ust not be used in a front
seat.
Failure to follo w th e s e in
structions can result in severe
injuries to you or other
occupants.
