Low Engine C oolant Level
W arning Lamp
W ith the key in steering lock
position 2, the w arning lam p
com es on and goes out when the
engine is running.
If the w arning lam p does not go
out after starting the engine, or if it
com es on w hile driving, then the
coolant level has dropped below
the required level. If no leaks are
noticeable and the engine te m p er­
ature does not increase, continue
to drive to the nearest service
station and have coolant added to
the coolant system (see Index).
In cases of m ajor or frequent
m inor coolant loss, have the
cooling system checked at your
authorized M ercedes-B enz dealer
as soon as possible.
Note:
Do not drive w ithout coolant in the
cooling system . The engine will
overheat causing m ajor engine
dam age.
M onitor the coolant tem perature
gauge w hile driving.
W arning!
Do not spill a n tifre eze on hot
e n g in e parts. A n tifre e ze con ­
tains e th y len e glycol w hich
m ay burn if it com es into con ­
tact w ith hot e n g in e parts. You
can be seriously burned.

the engine running, the level of
the reservoir has dropped to
approx. of the total volum e.

The reservoir should be refilled
with MB W indshield W asher
C oncentrate " S " and w ater (or
co m m ercially available prem ixed
w indshield w asher s o lv e n t/a n ti­
freeze, depending on am bient
tem perature - see Index) at the
next opportunity. The reservoir for
the w ind shield and headlam p
w asher system is located in the
engine com partm ent next to the
radiator.
The fluid level can be checked
v isu a lly at the sigh t glass located
next to the reservoir filler cap.
