Exterior Lam p Failure Indicator
Lamp
W ith the key in steering lock
position 2, a dim indicator lam p
com es on, and goes out w hen the
engine is running.
W ith the key in steering lock p osi­
tion 2 or w ith the engine running,
a bright illum ination of this lam p
indicates an exterior lam p failure.
If an exterior lam p fails, the in­
dicator lam p w ill com e on only
when that lam p is sw itched on.
If a brake or turn signal lam p fails,
the lam p failure indicator w ill com e
on when applying the brake or
actuating the turn signal and stay
on until the engine is turned off.
Note:
The indicator lam p w ill also com e
on if an incorrect bulb is installed.
If additional lighting e quipm ent is
installed (e.g. a uxiliary headlam ps
etc.) be certain to connect into the
fuse before the failure indicator
m onitoring unit in order to avoid
dam aging the system .

Seat Belt W arning Lamp
W ith the key in steering lock
position 2, the w arning lam p
com es on and an audible w arning
sounds for a short tim e if the
d riv e r's seat belt is not fastened.
After starting the engine, the
w arning lam p blinks for a brief
period to rem ind the driver and
passengers to fasten seat belts
before d riving off.
Brake Pad W ear Indicator Lamp
The brake pad w ear indicator
lam p in the instrum ent cluster
com es on when the key in the
steering lock is turned to posi­
tion 2 and goes out w hen the
engine is running.
If the indicator lam p lights up
during braking, this indicates that
the front wheel brake pads are
worn down (on vehicles equipped
with ASR, it indicates that the front
a n d /o r rear wheel brake pads are
w orn down).
Have the brake system checked at
yo ur authorized M ercedes-Benz
dealer as soon as possible.
