and the ir anchoring points

only belts installed or

Do not pass belts over
sharp edges.

fication that could change

belts.

The "S R S " is designed to
fun ctio n on a o ne-tim e-only
basis. An airbag or e m e r
g en cy ten sio nin g retractor
(ETR ) that was activated
m ust be replaced.
•
No m odifications of any
kind m ay be m ade to any
com ponents or w iring o f the
"S R S ". This includes the
installation o f additional trim
m aterial, badges etc. over
the steering w h eel hub or
fro nt p assen g er airbag
cover and installation of
additional e le c tric a l/e le c
tronic e qu ip m en t on or near
"S R S " com po n ents and
w iring.

Several airbag system com
p onents at the steering
w h eel get hot a fter the air
bag has inflated. D on't try to
touch them .
•
Im p ro per w ork on th e sys
tem , including incorrect
installation and removal,
can lead to possible injury
through an uncontrolled
activation of the "S R S ".
•
In addition, through im
p roper w ork th e re is the
risk of rendering the "S R S "
inoperative. W ork on the
"S R S " m ust th e re fo re only
be perform ed by an autho
rized M erced es-B en z dealer.

W hen scrapping the airbag
unit or e m erg e n cy ten sio n
ing retractor, it is m andatory
to follow our safety instruc
tions. T h ese instructions
are available at your autho
rized M erced es-B en z dealer.
W hen you sell the vehicle we
strongly urge you to give notice to
the subsequent ow ner that it is
equipped with an " S R S " by a le rt
ing him to the app lica ble section
in the O w n e r's M anual.
