If the parking brake is released
and the brake w arning lam p in the
instrum ent cluster stays on, the
brake fluid level in the reservoir is
too low.
Brake pad wear or a leak in the
system m ay be the reason for low
brake fluid in the reservoir.
Have the brake system inspected
at an authorized M ercedes-Benz
dealer im m ediately.
Install only brake pads and brake
fluid recom m ended by M ercedes-
Benz.
W arning!
If other than recom m ended
brake pads are installed, the
braking properties of the ve
hicle can be d egraded to an
extent that safe braking is
substantially im paired.
Tires
Tread w ear indicators (TWI) are
required by law. These indicators
are located in six places on the
tread circu m feren ce and becom e
visible at a depth of a pproxim ately
1 / i 6 in (2 mm), at w hich point the
tire is considered worn and should
be replaced.
The tread w ear indicator appears
as a solid band across the tread.
W arning!
Do not allow your tires to w ear
down too far. W ith less than
1/8 in (3 m m ) of tread, the
adhesion properties on a w et
road are sharply reduced.
D epending upon the w eath er
a n d /o r road surface (condi
tions), the tire traction varies
w idely.
S pecified tire pressures m ust be
m aintained. This applies parti
1801
c u la rly if the tires are subjected to
high loads (e.g. high speeds,
heavy loads, high am bient
tem peratures).
W arning!
Do not drive w ith a flat tire. A
flat tire a ffec ts the ability to
s te er or brake the vehicle. You
m ay lose control of the car.
C ontinued driving with a flat
tire or driving at high speed
w ith a flat tire will cause
excessive heat build-up and
possibly a fire.
