Drive Hub

How to Remove a Drive Hub
Note: When removing a hose assembly or fitting,
the O-ring on the fitting and/or hose end must be
replaced and then torqued to specification during
installation.
Refer to Section Two, Hydraulic Hose and Fitting
Torque Specifications.
1 Remove the drive motor. See 13-3, How to
Remove a Drive Motor .
2 Tag, disconnect and plug the hydraulic hose
from the brake. Cap the fittting on the brake.
Bodily injury hazard. Spraying
hydraulic oil can penetrate and
burn skin. Loosen hydraulic
connections very slowly to allow
the oil pressure to dissipate
gradually. Do not allow oil to squirt
or spray.
3 Loosen the wheel lug nuts. Do not remove
them.
4 Center a lifting jack of ample capacity under the
axle of the drive hub to be removed. Do not
raise the machine.
5 Block the wheels at the opposite end of the
machine.
6 Raise the machine approximately
6 inches / 15 cm and place blocks under the
chassis for support.
7 Remove the wheel lug nuts. Remove the tire and
wheel assembly.

8 Place a second lifting jack under the drive hub
for support and secure the drive hub to the
lifting jack.
9 Remove the drive hub mounting bolts that attach
the drive hub to the yoke. Remove the drive hub
from the machine.

Crushing hazard. The drive
hub may become unbalanced and
fall if it is not properly supported
and secured to the lifting jack.
