Connecting the
Grounding Wire
This procedure requires the following tools:
Crimping tool
7mm wrench
7mm, 15 in-lb torque wrench (optional)
3mm (0.125 in.) flat-head screwdriver
3mm (0.125 in.), 5 in-lb torque, flat-head screwdriver (optional)
Note
You must provide the wires, ring lug, and tools. They are not
included with the switch.
To connect the grounding wire to the grounding post, perform the following
procedure:
Warning
When installing this equipment, always ensure that the power supply
ground connection is installed first and disconnected last.
Note
Only one grounding post on the switch should be connected to the
building protective earth. The second grounding post should not be
used. Allied Telesis recommends using the grounding post for power
supply 1 (PSU 1).
1. Strip an adequate amount of insulation from one end of the ground
cable, for the ring lug. The amount may vary depending on the type of
ring lug, but 6.5mm (0.25 in) is typically sufficient. Refer to Figure 29.

2. Insert the grounding wire into the ring lug and use a crimping tool to
secure it. Refer to Figure 30 on page 78.
