10.2.5 Communication status
1. Voice & Fax
In normal cases, "Ready" is displayed to show that communication is available.
The CS: Circuit Switching service such as phone, FAX, or UDI/RDI which is making
attempts to establish communication is displayed. The display options are; Voice (4 k,
AMBE), Fax, UDI, and RDI.
When a phone call is made via 3.1k Audio, the display will be "Fax."
When you wish to make a phone call via 3.1k Audio, add "2*" at the beginning of the
phone number.
Reference) The conditions for having "- - -" displayed are;
When no satellite is acquired, in other words, while in Searching mode
When the registration of BGAN network (CS: Circuit Switching service) which
is executed during power initialization is not completed
2. Data connection
When connection is established with either Standard IP data or Streaming IP data
service, "Connected" will be displayed. When no connection is established, the display
will be "Not connected".
Reference) The conditions for having "- - -" displayed are;
When no satellite is acquired, in other words, while in Searching mode
When the registration of BGAN network (PS: Packet Switching service) which
is executed during power initialization is not completed
3. Standard data
The total data volume sent/received by the connected Standard IP data and Streaming IP
data is being counted.
Reference)
The communication charging system is different between Standard IP data service
and Streaming IP data service.
You will be billed by the packet volume for the Standard IP data service, and you
will be billed by the communication time for the Streaming IP data service.
For example, in the case of KDDI, the communication rate for Standard IP data
service(432kbps) is 1.55 ¥/1 kbyte, and the rate for 64 kbps Streaming IP data is
930 ¥/min.
Although you cannot calculate the communication rate based on the data volume
shown here, you can have the connection time and packet volume displayed via;
Log -> Data connection.
