UPnP (Universal Plug and Play)

The abbreviation of Universal Plug & Play. It is a collective term of the technology
which enables the usage of various equipments by "merely connecting" the equipments
existing upon the network such as Ethernet, wireless LAN, or IEEE1394 (over IP)
network.
It basically is the collective term for the following functions.
Allocating IP addresses:
The technology for automatically allocating DHCP and private IP addresses
Name solution: Enabled using DNS or IP broadcasting
Identifying devices and acknowledging functions:
It matches the devices by IP broadcast by using the protocol called SSDP
(Simple Service Discover Protocol). If there is an LDAP server, you can also
manage the equipments existing upon the network by using the LDAP server.

VRRP (Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol)

A protocol for multiplexing the router. In normal cases, several routers supporting
VRRP are assigned to a single group to have a single router among them used for
communication; if that router has a failure occurred, another router belonging to the
same group will automatically take over the communication.

Windows Media player

A media player which plays videos and audio data provided by Microsoft (USA).
