F. 9 Changing a wheel

Wheels should preferably be changed in a garage on a stable, solid surface.
WARNING
USE A LOW-PROFILE HYDRAULIC JACK WITH A LIFTING CAPACITY OF AT LEAST 5000 KG.
WARNING
ALWAYS OBSERVE THE PRESCRIBED TIGHTENING TORQUES. EXCEEDING THE SPECIFIED TIGHTENING TORQUE MAY CAUSE DAMAGE.
F. 9.1 Changing a wheel
• Start the engine
• Raise the front axle to its highest position
• Make sure the handbrake is applied
• Switch off the engine and remove the ignition key
• Place a block in front of the wheels
• Unscrew the wheel nuts by one turn
• Place the jack under the appropriate jacking point (see support area drawing).
NOTE
ENSURE A SUFFICIENTLY LARGE BEARING SURFACE BETWEEN THE JACK AND THE JACK POINTS, FOR EXAMPLE, BY USING A SHEET OR BLOCK
OF WOOD.
• Raise the vehicle with the jack
• Unscrew the wheel nuts completely once the wheel is off the floor
• Change the wheel
• Fit the wheel nuts and finger-tighten diagonally
• Let down the jack until the weight is fully back on the wheels.
• Tighten the wheel bolts using a torque wrench and a tightening torque of 350 Nm for the rear and front wheels.
