Therefore, sufficient clearance should always be main-
tained from sources of heat, and the wheelchair should be
moved frequently or placed on blocks for storage.
Proceed as follows to replace the tyre/inner tube on a drive
wheel:
1. Secure the wheelchair so it cannot tip over by placing a
suitable support under the drive unit.
2. To remove the wheel, use a size 8 Allen key to remove
the 4 Allen head screws in the centre of the wheel (Fig.
48) and remove the wheel.
3. To replace the tyre/inner tube of a drive wheel, remove
the screws on the inside of the rim with a size 8 Allen
key and pull the two parts of the rim apart.
4. The defective inner tube is now freely accessible and
can be replaced.

Proceed as follows to change a front wheel tyre:
1. To remove the caster wheel, loosen the axle screw with
a size 6 Allen key (see Figure 49, item 1) and pull out
the axle.
2. The defective wheel is now freely accessible and can
be replaced.
