4.2 Starting Manual Installation

This section explains the procedures for installing the OS manually.
■ Using the USB CD-ROM Drive / USB Floppy Disk Drive
It is strongly recommended that only products listed on the following website are connected to the
server.
PRIMERGY website (http://primergy.fujitsu.com)
When using the CD-ROM drive or DVD-ROM drive, the Windows 2000 Server can be manually
installed only from the CD-ROM of the Windows 2000 Server to which Service Pack 3 has been
applied. If Service Pack 3 or later is not applied, the server cannot be started from the USB device.
Use ServerStart to install the Windows 2000 Server.
The Microsoft package products shipped after October 2002 are already applied to Service Pack 3 as
well as the volume-licensed Windows 2000 Server CD-ROM. However, the volume license also
provides Windows 2000 Server CD-ROM not applied to Service Pack 3.
You can confirm whether Service Pack 3 or later is applied using the label of your Windows 2000
Server CD-ROM.
