Glossary:
virtual private network (VPN)
A private data network that uses the public telecommunication infrastructure with a tunneling protocol and security
procedures to maintain privacy. On a VPN, data is encrypted before the data is sent through the public network. The data
is then decrypted at the receiving end. An additional level of security encrypts not only the data, but also the originating
network address and the receiving network address. VPN software is usually installed as part of a company's firewall
tunneling
