vector-controlled split
A hunt group or an ACD split that is administered with the vector field enabled. The only way to gain access to a vector-
controlled split is to dial a VDN extension.
vector directory number (VDN)
An extension that provides access to the Vectoring feature on the switch. Customers use the Vectoring feature to specify
the treatment of incoming calls based on the dialed number.
very large scale integration (VLSI)
A technique for using hundreds of thousands of transistors working together on the same integrated circuit.
virtual circuit (VC)
A communications link for voice or data that appears to the user to be a dedicated point-to-point circuit. VCs can be
permanent or set up on a per-use basis. See also

A network whose traffic can be segregated independent of physical LAN connectivity. While VLAN computers are on
different physical segments of a LAN, the computers work as if they were located on the same physical LAN. A VLAN is
configured by software, instead of hardware. 802.1Q framing can support VLAN operation.
virtual path identifier (VPI)
An 8-bit field in the cell header that indicates the virtual path over which the cell is routed.
