PCI Considerations

March 2013
When you install the software on a Solaris operating system,
consider the following:
PCI Considerations on page 64
Dialogic® Brooktrout® Bfv API Libraries and Makefiles on
page 65
Writing Multithreaded Programs on page 65
Warning and Error Messages on page 66
Memory Allocation Error on page 66
pci_pci Loading Message on page 66
Determining Installation Parameters on page 66
Command Line Configuration for dinstall on page 67
Structure Packing on page 68
Compiler Issues on page 69
Driver File Locations on page 69
When configuring the device driver, you must select 0 when asked for
the number of ISA boards.
The operating system and/or system BIOS assigns base addresses
and interrupt numbers to the PCI boards, which might change when
the system is rebooted, especially if devices are added or moved.
If multiple PCI boards are in use, to determine the module numbers
of boards or ordinal channel values, see
Module Number on page 26
module number assignment.
On some systems, when certain Dialogic® Brooktrout® boards are
installed the system might hang at boot time if the device driver is not
already installed. Remove the boards, install the driver, then reinstall the
boards.
