Introducing the Driver Reinitialization Utility

Using the driver_reinit Utility

March 2013
The driver can be reinitialized close to its starting state in terms of
channels assigned to modules and module number assignments
using the driver_reinit program located in the
boston/driver/<platform>/user directory.
Use of this program may avoid the need to stop and restart the
driver. This is especially useful for a Windows PnP system as the
driver cannot be easily started and stopped.
When you execute the driver_reinit program, this utility will return
the driver to a state as close as possible to that of a fresh driver start
without stopping the driver.
The utility will:
Clear all ordinal channel assignments
Remove all stored information about the modules
Reset all the hardware modules
The utility fails if any application sessions currently exist.
