TROUBLESHOOTING

The following chart is designed to help you correct
problems which are not equipment malfunctions.
PROBLEM
Power does not come
o n w h e n [ P W R ] i s
pushed.
No sound comes from
the speaker.
Sensitivity is too low,
and only strong signals
are audible.
Receive audio is dis-
torted.
Receive signal is dis-
tor ted by strong sig-
nals.
The shift frequency of
the RIT function cannot
be added/subtracted.

POSSIBLE CAUSE
• DC power cable is improperly connected. • Reconnect the power cable correctly.
• Fuse is blown.
• Battery is exhausted if you are using a
12 V battery as the power source.
• Volume level is set too low.
• The squelch level is closed.
• The transceiver is in the transmit mode. • Release [PTT] on the microphone or

connected.
• The antenna is not connected properly.
• The antenna feed line is cut or shorted. • Check the feed line and correct any im-

• The attenuator function is activated.
• The antenna for another band is se-
lected.
• The operating mode is not selected cor-

• The noise reduction is activated and the
noise reduction level is too high.
• Noise blanker function is activated.

function) is turned ON.
If you are unable to locate the cause of a problem
or solve it through the use of this chart, contact your
nearest Icom Dealer or Service Center.
SOLUTION
• Check for the cause, then replace the
fuse with a spare one.
(Fuse is installed in the DC power cable)
• Check the battery voltage.
• Rotate [AF] clockwise to obtain a suit-
able listening level.
• Rotate [RF/SQL] to 12 o'clock position
to open the squelch.
