5.1 Storing Speed Dial Numbers (Function #5)
A Speed Dial number is an abbreviated way of entering a phone number. If you
frequently send documents to the same location, there's no need to enter the
complete number; you can store the number as a three-digit Speed Dial number
and then simply enter the Speed Dial number from the Numeric Keypad whenever
you need it. Each number you store can be up to 36 digits, including pauses. On
the Model 9930, you can store up to 200 phone numbers as Speed Dial numbers
001-200.
When programming Speed Dial numbers, the Model 9930 prompts you to specify
the Speed Dial number, telephone number, Speed Dial name and whether or not
the destination will be a Relay Station:
• SET SPEED DIAL #
Prompts
• ENTER TEL #
• ENTER NAME
• RELAY STATION? (Only if selected in Service Mode)
NOTES:
1. Pauses are entered by pressing the PAUSE Key on the Operator Control
Panel. Pauses are useful and often required when your phone system hesitates
a few seconds in between dial tones or when accessing overseas telephone lines.
Entering a pause (-) at the appropriate place within a phone number compensates
for any phone line access delay and automates the dialing process for you.
You may want to include one or more pauses at the end of international telephone
numbers to allow for the longer connect time that usually occurs during these
calls. You may also place pauses before a telephone number if there is normally
a delay in getting a dial tone from your telephone system.
2. Dial pauses are variable in length. The standard Model 9930 is configured with
a pause length of five seconds. Each time you place a pause (-) in a phone
number, the Model 9930 will wait for five seconds before dialing continues. You
may enter multiple pauses to increase the pause time, which will be in multiples
of five seconds. For example, two pauses will provide ten seconds of pause time;
three pauses will result in a pause time of 15 seconds. If you would like to change
the length of each pause, please call the Pitney Bowes Facsimile Diagnostic
Center listed in Section 8.8. This feature can be changed over the phone.
