6. 7 Secure Access

Some Key Operators or System Administrators want to restrict access to the fax
unit. A single four-digit Secure Access Code can be programmed. When in use,
each user must enter the four-digit code in order to use any feature of the Model
9930. Automatic receiving is always possible. You can establish a four-digit
Secure Access Code by referring to Section 5.8.1 on Changing the 9930 System
Options. When Secure Access is ON, each time a user presses any Key on the
Operator Control Pane, the display will read:
ENTER ACCESS CODE

6.8 Set-Up Passcode

Your Model 9930
was shipped with a pre-programmed four-digit Set-Up
Passcode. Set-Up Passcode does not affect normal send and receive operations
and is different from the Secure access Code.
Your unit uses the Set-Up Passcode to prevent unauthorized people from
tampering with the Options set up in your system. It also prevents unauthorized
access to the Mailbox Set-Up and Print Directory Functions.
It is not possible to turn this Passcode ON or OFF like the Secure Access Code.
It must be entered each time an Operator tries to access any of the areas
mentioned above.
On the 9930, "9930" is the default Set-Up Passcode that an operator must enter
(however it could have been changed during installation). If you want to change
the system's Set-Up Passcode, call the Pitney Bowes Diagnostic Center listed in
the back of this Guide. This feature can be changed over the phone and does not
require a service call.
