6. SPECIAL FEATURES AND FUNCTIONS

This Section describes the high level facsimile capabilities and other
miscellaneous standard features that save time and provide real cost savings.

6.1 PBX Access Codes

If your phone system is a PBX (Private Branch Exchange) you may want to
configure your Model 9930 to ask for a PBX Access Code each time someone
attempts to dial and send or poll documents. With this feature ON, usage of your
unit can be monitored by and controlled through your PBX. Once this feature is
activated, a programmed PBX Access Code will be appended to all telephone
numbers that require one.
Your Model 9930 was probably installed with this feature OFF. You can verify the
status of PBX Codes by placing a document in the Document Feeder and
entering a telephone number. Press SEND/RECEIVE after entering the phone
number and observe the display.
If the prompt "ENTER PBX CODE" appears, the feature is ON. If PBX Access
Codes are OFF and you would like them ON, please call the Pitney Bowes
Diagnostic Center listed in the back of this Guide Section 8.8. This feature can
be changed over the phone and does not require a service call.
There are two optional settings for the PBX Access feature:
• Suffix
• Prefix
The Diagnostic Center will ask for your PBX requirements. If your telephone
system needs to "see" an Access Code before the telephone number, you should
request a "Prefix" Access Code configuration. If your PBX needs to "see" an
Access Code after the dialed telephone number, you can request a "Suffix"
Access Code configuration.
After PBX Access Codes have been activated, during all dialing operations the
operator will be prompted to enter their PBX Access Code. The only dial method
that will not require an Access Code is when Dialing Manually (Sections 4.4.7 and
4.4.8).
The system will prompt the operator for a PBX Access Code even after a send job
is entered using Speed Dial numbers, One Touch Keys, or programmable One
Touch Keys (P-Keys). The Model 9930 will also ask for an Access Code while
programming an AutoDial job. This occurs before any of the telephone numbers
have been entered. The Model 9930 will also ask for a PBX Access Code during
polling transaction set up and programming.
