5.7 Setting Up the System (Function #8)
When the Model 9930 was installed, set-up definitions should have been
programmed. These definitions include the:
• DATE/TIME
• MACHINE ID SET UP
— TRANSMIT ID
— FAX TEL NUMBER
— POLLING PASSCODE
• JOURNAL SET UP
— JNL DISPLAY
— JNL ID FIELD
— JNL PRINTING TIME
— JNL SEND
• TEL LINE SET UP
— RING PATTERN
— RING DETECT COUNT
— AUTO RECEIVE
— REDIAL COUNT (not in U.K.)
— REDIAL INTERVAL (not in U.K.)
• PRINT AUTO REDUCTION
• BEEP VOLUME
• MONITOR VOLUME
It is not necessary to set these definitions up prior to starting a transmission, but
if these settings are defined prior to any sending or receiving, the Model 9930 can
help you keep records of all documents from the very beginning.
If the System Set-Up definitions have not been configured already, follow the
procedures in Section 5.7.1. If the definitions were previously programmed and
you wish to change one or more of them (e.g., to change the time or fax telephone
number, etc.), refer to the procedures in the next Section, Section 5.7.1.

5.7.1 Changing or Programming the Set-Up Definitions

If the Set-Up definitions were previously programmed and you wish to change one
or several, there is no need to answer all of the following prompts and questions.
Instead, you can answer NO to all prompts until you reach the one(s) you want to
change or you can use the (COMM STAT) or (HELP) Keys to scroll to the prompt
you want to change. After you are finished, simply press STOP to return to the
Ready Mode. In this case, the system will not automatically print a System Set-
Up Report. You may print one anytime through the Print Reports Function (see
Section 5.6.2).
