6.3.7 Polling a Remote Mailbox to Receive Mail

You can poll the Mailbox of any Pitney Bowes Group 3 machine. To do this, follow
the procedures listed in Section 4.6.7.

6.3.8 Polling your Mailbox from Remote Locations

Remote facsimile machines can poll your Mailbox. The procedures are similar for
Pitney Bowes machines and non-Pitney Bowes machines. The remote operator
must call from a push button phone with Touch Tone (DTMF) service. The
following instructions should be given to the remote operator.
Do This
1. Dial the Model 9930 with the Telephone Handset off-
hook so you can listen to the tones generated by the
Model 9930 when it answers. The phone or fax must
have push-button capability with Touch Tone (DTMF)
service (Be sure there are no documents in the Feeder.)
2. After the connection is made, listen until the receive
tone stops. As soon as the tone stops, enter the
following: #, Mailbox number, #, Security Code, * from
the Keypad on the phone. For example, enter
"#25#1234*" for Mailbox #25 with Security Code #1234.
3. Press SEND/RECEIVE once.
NOTES:
1. If you hear a BROKEN NOT READY TONE, there either is no mail or the
Security Code for the Mailbox was incorrect
2. If there is a communication error during the transmission, repeat Steps #1-3.
4. The Mailbox Security Code takes priority over the Polling Passcode when a
Mailbox is polled.
This Happens
The phone call is made to the
Model 9930.
Listen carefully through the
Telephone Handset.
Model 9930 is ready, you'll
hear a SOLID READY TONE.
If the Model 9930 is not
ready, you'll hear a BROKEN
NOT READY TONE.
NOTE 1.
You should not press SEND/
RECEIVE unless you hear
the SOLID READY TONE.
The documents in the Model
9930 Mailbox are sent to your
unit.
