8.3 Replacing Recording Paper

The standard Model 9930 handles 250 sheets in either letter/A4 or letter/legal
sizes. The presence of two additional cassettes, each perhaps containing a
different paper size, provides the highest level of receiving flexibility. The 9930
can automatically determine which page size would be best suited for incoming
documents. The units can then also decide whether reduction is necessary to fit
an image on whatever stock is available.
If the supply of paper from all three areas become depleted while receiving, the
remainder of the current document being received will automatically be received
into memory for printing at a later time. Subsequent documents will also be
received into memory until memory becomes full or until the paper supply is
replenished. The number of pages that can be received into memory will depend
upon the size of memory installed in your machine. See Section 3.7 for more
information on Memory Features.
If all paper has been depleted, a "PAPER EMPTY" message will appear in the
display on the Operator Control Panel. Even though incoming documents will be
received into memory if this happens, you should install more paper as soon as
possible.
Replenishing the supply of paper is a simple procedure. Refer to Section 3.6,
Loading Paper.

8.4 Clearing a Recording Paper Jam

Although it is an extremely rare occurrence, the Recording Paper may become
jammed in your Model 9930 if proper loading procedures are not followed.
Some of the more common causes of Model 9930 paper jams and the best ways
to avoid them are listed below:
1. The best way to prevent frequent jams is to make sure that the Model 9930 is
placed on a level, hard, flat, stable surface.
2. The vast majority of plain paper will work well in the Model 9930. If the paper
is not compatible with the unit, however, using it could promote frequent
jamming.
• Avoid very smooth and coarse paper.
• If your machine is feeding two or more pages at once, you may be
using a type of paper that is difficult to separate. Remove the paper
from the Main Cassette and fan the edges to separate the pages.
