Factory Default Settings

Settings programmed in at the factory, such as PostScript as the
default mode. These settings can be changed through applications,
utilities, printer commands, and the printer's front panel. See also
Default Settings.
Family
The group name of the typeface, which identifies the typeface's
distinctive shape. Typeface families are often named after their
designers (John Baskerville, Frederick Goudy); they can suggest
how a typeface may be used (Bookman, Century Schoolbook); or
they may describe the typeface's appearance (Clearface,
BrushScript). See also Typeface.
Flow Control Conflict
A conflict which occurs when your computer software and printer
settings are not both set for the same communication protocol. For
example, in serial communication if a printer is set for XON/XOFF
flow control and the host is using DTR/DSR, they cannot
communicate because of a flow control conflict.
Font
In the desktop publishing industry, font is often used
interchangeably with the term "typeface". However, a font is a
typeface subset in a particular point size and style. See also
Typeface.
Graphic
Information presented in the form of pictures or images.
Halftone
The print out of a copy of a photograph or illustration in a set of tiny
dots of different sizes and shapes which, unless looked at very
closely or with a magnifier, is interpreted by the human eye as a
solid image.
