    Introduction This chapter covers the available options for your Accel-a-Writer 8200 printer, which includes the paper handling options—the paper feeder, extra cassettes, and the cassette supporter. It also includes the extra wide print option as well as the RAM (memory), resolution, and Ethernet upgrades.

    Installing the Paper Feeder To install the paper feeder Unpack the paper feeder and, with the connector to the back left, set the feeder next to the printer. Make sure the feeder’s two securing locks, one on each side under the lock icons, are pulled forward so that they are open (fig.

    Installing the Cassette Supporter To install the cassette supporter Unpack the supporter and, with the open end to the front, set the supporter next to the printer. Turn off your printer and disconnect the power cord and all interface cables. Warning! The printer weighs approximately 60 lbs (27.24 kg).

    Thursday or 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Resolution Upgrades Your Accel-a-Writer 8200 comes standard with 600 x 600 dpi resolution and enough RAM to handle this resolution. Note: Occasionally, a complex, large file or one with heavy graphics may require more than standard memory to print.

    The instructions also cover troubleshooting your resolution upgrade. RAM Upgrades Your Accel-a-Writer 8200 is delivered with 12 MB of standard RAM (Random Access Memory) which can be upgraded to a maximum 64 MB using 4 or 16 MB SIMM (Single In-line Memory Module) RAM.

  • Page 13 Lift up slightly on the front of the output tray and then gently push it back to release the tray’s securing pegs (fig. 9.9). Disconnect the front panel cable by gently pulling the end of the cable out of the controller board connector (fig. 9.9) to free the output tray from the printer.

  • Page 15 Note: RAM banks must be filled in order from the back (Bank 1) to the front (Bank 4). If you mix 4 and 16 MB RAM upgrades, any 16 MB SIMMs must be installed first followed by 4 MB SIMM. For example, if you have two 16 MB and one 4 MB SIMMs, the 16 MB SIMMs should be in Banks 1 and 2 and the 4 MB SIMM in Bank 3.
  • Page 16 Tilt the SIMM forward towards you to a 45˚ angle and slide it up and out of the bank (fig. 9.13). Remove the upgrade SIMM from its protective bag. Align the new SIMM at a 45˚ angle toward you (with the notched corner down and to the left) over the appropriate bank (fig.

Replace the output tray making sure the pegs at the back of the tray seat in the holes on the printer.

    Close the front cover. Close the fold down tray. Reattach the interface cables and power cord. Turn on your printer. Note: If you want to confirm the memory upgrade, check the start-up page. To print a test start-up page, take the printer off line and press the Test key.
