RECEIVING A FAX

When the optional Finisher (AR-FN5) is installed
Received faxes are output to the top tray of the Finisher. Faxes cannot be output to the bottom tray. If
desired, output can be changed to the center tray with the key operator program. (Copier manual)

The top tray of the Finisher also has a sensor that detects when the tray is full. When approximately
100 pages accumulate in the tray, a message appears in the display and fax printing stops. If this
happens, remove the pages. Printing will resume momentarily.

When the optional Finisher is installed, the optional Job Separator cannot be installed.

Receiving a Fax

There are two methods for receiving faxes.
Auto reception
When a fax comes in, the machine rings and then automatically receives the fax.
Manual reception When a fax comes in, you must answer the call and then press the START key to
begin reception.
Using auto reception
The machine is initially set to answer calls on two rings ("Number of Rings Auto Reception" setting). You
can change this setting to any number from 0 to 9 with the key operator program. (See page 157)

The machine rings twice and then automatically begins reception (the
LINE light illuminates).

Reception takes place automatically after ringing even if an extension phone is
connected to the machine. If you answer the call using the extension phone before
ringing ends and the other party is sending a fax by manual transmission, you can talk to
the other party and then begin fax reception by pressing "5

When reception ends, the machine makes a beep sound.

The received fax is output to the machine tray.
Using manual reception
To receive faxes manually, you must use the SPEAKER key or an extension phone connected to the
machine. To receive a fax manually using an extension phone when the machine is set to auto reception,
use the procedure in "In Copy mode" on the following page, or the remote reception procedure on page
113.
To use manual reception, the reception mode must be set to manual. (See page 42)
In Fax mode

When the machine rings, press the SPEAKER key.
