Description
Fabric OS (FOS) 6.3.0 introduced support for the following new hardware platforms:
HP StorageWorks DC SAN Director Multiprotocol Extension Blade, the next-generation distance
extension blade for the DC SAN Backbone Director and DC04 SAN Director, supports 12 FC
ports operating at 1, 2, 4, and 8 Gb/s, 10 1-GbE ports and 2 10-GbE ports. (1-GbE ports require
4-Gb B-series SFPs; 10-GbE ports require 10-GbE B-series SFPs.)
HP StorageWorks 1606 Extension SAN Switch, the next-generation distance extension platform
for FCIP applications, supports 16 FC ports at 1, 2, 4, and 8 Gb/s, and 6 1-GbE optical ports.
(The user can select either a copper or optical interface on two ports.) GbE ports require 4-Gb B-
series SFPs.
HP StorageWorks DC SAN Director Switch 10/24 FCoE Blade, a Fibre Channel over Ethernet/con-
verged enhanced Ethernet (FCoE/CEE) blade for the DC SAN Backbone Director and DC04 SAN
Director, supports 24 10-GbE CEE ports.
HP StorageWorks 2408 FCoE Converged Network Switch, an FCoE/CEE switch, supports 24 10-
GbE CEE ports and 8 FC ports operating at 1, 2, 4, and 8 Gb/s. Initially supported by FOS
6.1.2_cee1, the 2408 FCoE Converged Network Switch is now supported as part of the FOS
6.3 release.
In addition to support for the new hardware platforms and blades, there are several new features
introduced in FOS 6.3.0.
FCIP enhancements
Enhanced compression, FCIP trunking, and Adaptive Rate Limiting (ARL) features for new extension
platforms. These features are enabled on the 1606 Extension SAN Switch and the DC SAN Dir-
ector Multiprotocol Extension Blade platforms only. They are not available on the HP StorageWorks
400 Multiprotocol Router (Brocade 7500), or the HP StorageWorks Multiprotocol Router Blade
(Brocade FR4–18i).
FCR enhancements
EX_Port Masterless Trunking (effective with FOS 6.3.0a)
EX_Port Quality of Service (QoS)
Adaptive Networking enhancements
Bottleneck detection for F_Ports (does not require Adaptive Networking license)
QoS support for D,I zone definitions and WWN zone definitions
Access Gateway enhancements
Adaptive Networking license supported on switches running in Access Gateway (AG) mode
