2-20-11 Programming Console Functions

Programming Console functions are utilities to enable a PT to be used in place of a Programming
Console. These functions are included with the CX-Designer CD-ROM. The Programming Console
functions are used on the PT as an external application. A separate Memory Card (15 MB min.) is re-
quired before these functions can be used.

Programming Console functions are built into the NS12, NS10, and NS8-V2 with system version 6.6 or
higher and the NS5-@@1@-V2 or the NS15.

Note 1. Remove any Programming Console connected to the peripheral ports before using Programming Con-
sole functions.
2. The PLCs cannot be connected to the Communications Board or a RS-232C port on the Communica-
tions Unit.
3. The Programming Console function is not supported by the CJ2 CPU Units.
The following settings are required when using Programming Console functions.

Set the unit number on the PT System Menu to "0". The Programming Console functions will not op-
erate if any other unit number is set.

Set the PLC DIP switch settings to write enabled. The Programming Console functions will not oper-
ate if the settings are write disabled.
Preparations for Use of the Programming Console Functions
Copy the Programming Console function's program to the Memory Card.
Programming Console functions are built into the NS12, NS10, and NS8-V2 with system version 6.6 or
higher and the NS5-@@1@-V2 or NS15, and so this preparation is not required.
For NT Link (1:1) Communications with C-series or SRM1 PLCs
1. Copy the proconC folder from the CD-ROM to the root directory of the Memory Card in the com-
puter's PC card slot.
The Memory Card will have the following configuration when the copying has been completed.
Memory Card: \proconC\.
For NT Link (1:N) Communications with CS/CJ-series PLCs
1. Copy the proconC folder from the CD-ROM to the root directory of the Memory Card in the com-
puter's PC card slot.
The Memory Card will have the following configuration when the copying has been completed.
