4.2 Signal Processing

4.2.1 Fieldbus Coupler Mode

4.2.1.1 Digital Input

The digital input offers the following functions:

• 1-button mode

• Trigger for safety position
• No function in the SMI Master Module; evaluation of the digital input in the PLC
The digital input corresponds to IEC 61131-2, Type 1.
An open input is recognized as a low signal.
4.2.1.1.1 1-Button Mode
1-button operation (also called "construction site mode") controls the SMI LoVo Drives,
e.g., for test purposes before system integration or for processing alarm messages. For
this purpose, an external button is connected to the digital input and linked to the power
supply. The break contact logic or make contact logic can be parameterized for the trig-
ger event.
Motion commands are triggered by pressing the button and are sent to all connected
SMI LoVo Drives.
The possible motion commands are:
• Move up
• Move down
• Stop
The motion commands take the form of alternating "up" commands and "down" com-
mands. If a motion command is being executed, pressing the button stops the
SMI LoVo Drives. If the button is pressed again, the SMI LoVo Drives reverse direction.

4.2.1.1.2 Forced Position

The forced position is a parameterizable response which makes all the SMI LoVo Drives
connected to the SMI Master Module move automatically when one of the following
events occurs:
• The failure monitoring function reports a local bus communication failure (see
Bus Failure Monitoring
• The failure monitoring function reports a PLC failure (see
toring
• The "forced position" function is parameterized for the digital input, and the input signal
corresponds to a safety-related state.
Either the break contact logic or the make contact logic can be parameterized for the
trigger event.
The following forced positions can be configured:
• Move SMI LoVo Drives all the way up.
• Move SMI LoVo Drives all the way down.
• Maintain current position of SMI LoVo Drives.
