Functions
As an alternative to automatic activation and deactivation, energy saving mode can also
be manually activated and deactivated in the process data via extended control byte C1.
The SMI master module switches to energy saving mode if the following events occur:
• Rising edge on bit 1 in extended control byte C1
• Time to timeout according to configuration has elapsed
The SMI master module exits energy saving mode if the following events occur:
• Falling edge on bit 1 in extended control byte C1
• Incoming SMI motion command
If both the timeout and bit in the process image are used as the mechanism, the first trig-
gering event activates and deactivates the energy saving function.
Activating the Energy Saving Function via Timeout
If the timeout is set in the SMI master module parameterization, then the maximum total
motion time of the shutters installed in the system must be taken into account. The maxi-
mum total motion time is the sum of the duration of the longest motion time of the shut-
ters plus the duration of the motion time of the slats (see
ing
[} 16]).
Activating the Energy Saving Function via Control Byte C1
If energy saving mode is activated with a rising edge on bit 1 in control byte C1, then the
effect corresponds to a triggered STOP command for all connected drives. The
SMI LoVo Drives stop, and the SMI Master Module switches to energy saving mode (see
8 Digital Output
To make sure the SMI master module does not switch from motion commands that are
still running to energy saving mode until they are completed, the controller must generate
the positive edge on bit 1 in control byte C1. The duration of the delay depends on the
maximum motion time of the installed shutters.

4.2.1.7 Shutter and Slat Positioning

The position of a shutter is determined by the shutter position and slat position. The shut-
ter position is a position in the shutter setting range between the top and bottom end posi-
tions of the drive. The slat position is a position between fully open and fully closed slats
in the slat setting range (total angle of motion). Both values are given as percentages.
The shutter position is adjusted first. The slats are then positioned. The slats positioning
always proceeds from the fully open slat position that is reached by moving upwards. The
distance of this motion can customized by configuring the positioning offset for each shut-
ter. The setting range of the slats must be smaller than the positioning offset.
