User's Manual
In tomographic exposure programs tomographic and
transtomographic images from maxilla, mandible or
temporo-mandibular joints are taken. These images can
be cross-sectional or longitudinal, and their angle can be
adjusted.
There are two tomography methods available: digital
tomography and digital transtomography. See chapter 5.4
"Tomographic exposure programs" on page 20 for more
information.
Use a bite piece for this procedure. Insert the chin rest
and a bite piece into the adapter. Insert the adapter into
the holes in the patient support table.
For edentulous patients or for patients who are unable to
use the bite piece, you can use the impression plate or
bite piece with vacuum formed stent.
You can also use the bite impression model for patient
positioning. See "Bite impression model" on page 97.
Select the tomographic (Tomo) exposure program you
require and specify the image area as described in
section 8.5 "Selecting tomographic (Tomo) exposure
program" on page 46.
Select the correct exposure values for the patient being X-
rayed according to the values in the following table.
NOTE
If the required diagnostic value can be reached
with lower mA values than the following table
indicates, you can use those lower values.
Always try to minimize the radiation dose to the
patient.
NOTE
Increase the kV value in the enhanced resolution
mode by 2 kV and the mA value by 1mA.
