TEMPOROMANDIBULAR JOINT (TMJ) EXPOSURE
This procedure will produce three exposures with different
angles from the left or right temporomandibular joint.
NOTE
Place the upper lip against the chin support in
order to get correct TMJ exposures.
Note that the C-arm will travel through three exposure
cycles.
Use the chin support for this exposure. Insert the chin
support into the adapter. Insert the adapter into the holes
in the patient support table.
Select the multi-angle TMJ exposure program you
require, see section 8.3 "Selecting temporomandibular
joint (TMJ) exposure program" on page 41.
Select the correct exposure parameters for the patient
being X-rayed according to the values in the following
table.
NOTE
If the required diagnostic value can be reached
with lower mA values than the following table
indicates, you can use those lower values.
Always try to minimize the radiation dose to the
patient.
NOTE
Increase the kV value in the enhanced resolution
mode by 2 kV and the mA value by 2 mA.
