Using the DEC function

User's Manual
DYNAMIC EXPOSURE CONTROL (optional)
The Dynamic Exposure Control (DEC) is used for
producing consistent density image of a patient to make
the anatomical information value optimal. The correct
exposure values are automatically adjusted regardless of
the anatomic shape and structure of the jaw or bone
density.
If your unit is equipped with the DEC function it can be
activated by touching the DEC field on the top of the main
menu in the panoramic and cephalometric mode.
When the DEC function is activated it automatically
selects the kV and mA starting values based on the
patient and the jaw size for optimal exposure. Selecting
the right patient and jaw size will assist DEC operation.
The kV and mA values can be adjusted in the panoramic
mode. The scale of the kV value is between 54kV and
84kV and it can be adjusted by + 4kV to - 4kV. Note that if
the kV value is e.g. 82kV it can only be increased by 2kV.
The scale of the mA value is between 1mA and 16mA and
it can be adjusted by + 4mA to - 3mA. Note that if the mA
value is e.g. 15mA it can only be increased by 1mA.
NOTE
It is possible but not recommended to modify the
default kV and mA starting values.
NOTE
Dramatic change of the kV and mA values may
yield to an incomplete DEC function.
NOTE
The DEC function can be used in the panoramic
and cephalometric modes.
NOTE
The DEC function is not available when the PC
communication is disabled.
