This procedure will produce a full size panoramic
exposure of both jaws. If the child setting is selected, the
width and height of the exposed area will be slightly
reduced. You can also take a segment exposure by
selecting only certain vertical or horizontal segments of
the jaw, refer to section 8.2.1 "Selecting segmentation
(optional)" on page 39.
Use a bite piece for this procedure. Insert the chin rest
and a bite piece into the adapter. Insert the adapter into
the holes in the patient support table.
Alternatively, for edentulous patients or for patients who
are unable to use the bite piece, you can use both the
chin support and the chin cup for panoramic exposures.
You may have to place a roll of gauze or cotton between
the patient's jaws to raise the upper ridge to the correct
position.
Select the panoramic program you require, refer to
section 8.2 "Selecting panoramic exposure program" on
page 37.
Select the correct exposure parameters for the patient
being X-rayed according to the values in the following
table.
NOTE
If the required diagnostic value can be reached
with lower mA values than the following table
indicates, you can use those lower values.
Always try to minimize the radiation dose to the
patient.
